Talking to the press recently, Sarathkumar reminisced how Kochadaiyan came into being a few years ago itself. "Rajinikanth told me the story of Kochadaiyaan a few years ago and I still remember it scene by scene. It's a wonderful story and I am proud to be associated with him," he stated.

Answering questions on his daughter, Sarath said that he believed Varalakshmi will make it big as an actor. Sarath is now busy in Malayalam movies. His Achande Aan Makkal is due for release. So is the movie History. In Tamil, he has a period film directed by Selvaraj. In the pipeline is a project for Siva of Amma Creations.
